Default Convince me.....

Gentlemen, I have an 03 sc/sb with a DJM 4-6 drop ( lca and flip kit). Love the looks but hate the ride. Way to soft. and bottoming out every once in a while. I was thinking of going with custom stiffer coils, qa-1 adjustable shocks plus hellwig sway bar in front and keeping the rear flip with new qa-1's, sway bar and putting the helper air bags to firm it up. There's a little voice in my head saying to try the Hotchkis tvs set-up because of the performance aspect. ANY OF YOU GUY'S OUT THERE HAVE ANY IDEA'S ON WHICH WAY I SHOULD GO? Thanks in advance Mike

imo the mcgaughys spindles and coils up front is a perfect ride. not too soft and not too firm. I'm also running DT shocks

Hotchkiss sway bars front and rear will put it on rails in corners....

generally speaking, springs are ride height and shocks are ride.
put some stiff shocks on it and sway bars of course are good too, at least add a rear one

One of the hardest things to give advice on its lowered ride quality. I think my truck rides better with the DJM CalMax 4/6 kit on it. Others like you can't stand the ride. It's really a matter of taste...

The DJM kit uses the factory springs and shock length in the front, so it really shouldn't affect the ride *that* much. If I had to make a guess, I'd say that you are in need of some GOOD shocks. I have Bell Tech Nitro Drop shocks on mine, and it rides great. I've had plenty of people compliment me on how great the truck rides. My next set of shocks will be some QA1's. My suggestion would be to try out the QA1's. I'm pretty sure that will solve your problems.

(PS Speed Engineering is running a special on them www.speed-eng.com)

Thanks for the reply's guy's. I've went ahead and ordered the hotchkis 2-4. I just have to decide on shocks. I was going to get the qa1's thru Naake Suspension for the 4-6, I'll just change the length. I love the 4-6 look but I'm tired of driving "safe" and waiting for that inevitable bottom out. Does anybody know what the ride height shock length is for the 2-4?

I'm still not convinced that it's the lowering kit that has anything to do with your ride quality. Now if you're tired of speedbumps and driveway, I can certainly understand that. I got a new crossmember and have almost no problems with bottoming out now.
