Color Changing My Whole Truck..

well i have thought about it and had added another paint to my choices.. i kinda wanted something to actually show the pearl, so what do you guys think about pearl white?? i think it would look pretty dang good, and what about painting the plastic bumper pieces and i was thinking about color matching the black part of the grille, not the chrome strip but the shell itself.. what do you think?

Most pearl's are really tri-coats anyways unless the pearl is added into the basecoat paint b/c you want that layer of pearl sitting on the basecoat paint to really pop then add the clear. If you want a dual stage, might want to stay clear of pearls.
Now, you can pick any color you want to go with and add some PPG pearl of the same color to it and mix it all together and you can make you a custom dual stage pearl.

ok here is the plan now, i went down to Autobody Master (paint shop here in western KY) and talked to the owner, they gave me a couple ideas, i can do the base coat of the caddy paint, then add pearl to the clear, spray like 2 coats of clear mixed with pearl on there, then spray over that with regular clear, for everything to do my truck (1.5 gal of paint, pearl, clearcoat, all additives and everything else) its 150$ i think this is what im goin to do, not real sure i have to talk to my teacher first, i think it will look freakin bad when i get it done, i havent seen many silverados or sierras with the caddy pearl white on them, anyone have some pics?? what do you think?? think yes or no go with another color?

pretty much ignore 90% of these replies. lets hit on the key stuff
your truck has bc/cc on it from the factory. to buy the paint that is already on your truck you would spend upwards of $400 for black/white etc, more for yellows and reds. thats just the liquid. dont put nason on top of good paint. it will look like crap.
charcoal is a metallic. its not smart to spray a truck in single stage metallic. its one of the most difficult things to spray (ranks with candies) because you have to worry about metallic control and surface peel, but they contradicts each other. also you CANNOT BUFF single stage. the buffer hits the metallic and turns them white.
Solid colors have more depth in single stage. park a black ss car next to a black bc/cc car and you could jump into the hood of the ss car.
professionals that can spray paint as horrible as the factory job will charge at least 3000 and up for stock work. be afraid of a guy that wants to do an allover including jams for $1800.
if i were you......... mechanically strip most of the paint from the truck (obviously it was hacked) until its all thin and feathered. spray the truck in epoxy primer then urethane primer. block it out twice, finishing in 600 grit. THEN take it to a dealership or NICE shop and find a painter who sprays on the side. if you got away with spending $300 on materials and paying a guy 2 grand to go over your crappy sanding job, tape, spray, and buff you should be happy.

The bodywork has to be perfect though...I'm sure you know that black shows every imperfection.
