Technically, you are supposed to have an amber reflector on the front sides of your vehicle and red on the back. That's whey you see everything wraping the corners now, rather than the marker lights they use to use. I've had no problems with mine though.

Actually if you look at the Texas Department of Transportation codes on the subject, you'd find that clear turn signals on the FRONT of the car are perfectly legal. Amber or clear are legal on the front. On the back of the car they can be amber or red. Not clear.
Clear with colored bulbs are NOT legal. The DOT hasn't approved any colored bulbs for use and doesn't allow clear taillights because they do not meet the minimum viewable distance of 500ft.
Cars that come from the factory with clears also have the colored reflector over a clear bulb. You get the basic look of the clears and maintain compliance.
A perfect example of this is the Nissan Altima. It's got red rear lights, but the surrounding section of the tailights are clear.

Here in KY you can have clear lenses but you need amber bulbs and red/amber bulbs in the rear. I hate it when you see ricers with bright white tail light bulbs, thats so aggravating.
