Changing out my 3rd brake light lens on the cab today and low and behold in the lower right and lower left corner the lens wore right through the paint
. I can see this being a nasty spot for rust in a few years on these trucks. Gonna clean it up tomorrow and add touch up paint. Just a heads up for you guys.........

Yeah let's put it this way. My truck is a garage queen (ask InchUp). Not so much as a blemish in the paint, not a dent, gets washed 4-5 times a week (not exaggerating) and gets stored winters. Truck has 36K on the clock and is an '04. I'm telling you this to give you an idea of how protected the truck is from the elements. The lens wore through the cab paint right down to the bare metal. It actually was starting to rust in one of the corners. Does anyone know of an aftermarket company that makes a paintable filler plate that would go in place of the 3rd brake light? I drove the truck around for a day without the 3rd brake light to air the cab out and it looked tremendously better like my 1970

Lol remember that night out at Discount Tire I was trying to find a single blemish in your paint?
Me: "HA! I found one...wait, found a couple! hirdlej what are all these?" (thinking I had something)
hirdlej: "Nope, those are fine body lines made from the stamps at the factory."
Me:
"Ahh I thought I actually found one one for a moment."

It's literally about the size of a few pieces of pepper. Yeah I know, nothing to sneeze at now (no pun intended) but I can see this being a problem area on the NBS trucks in the next few years as they start to show their age.

If this problem is showing up on a truck as pampered as yours (or mine), I've got to believe it will be a bigger problem on a daily driver.
