Default Brought home a new truck

Yesterday I went to Carmax to cash out my sierra, being in NYC I had to drive up to Connecticut, as it's the only carmax local to me. After the 2 hour drive I finally get there and get greeted. They appraise my car and keep mentioning how it's old and high mileage, yada yada yada. After a half hour they come back and tell me $800....yup a full size sierra which can still fetch close to 4k privately is $800 according to these people. I laugh in her face and walk out the door. Across the street I see McDermott Chevy and say screw it let's see what they'll say. I walk in and instantly the manager comes up, greets me good morning asks what I'm up to etc. tell him I'd just like to know a trade in offer for my truck. He tells me they're giving away 2014s and to go pick one off the lot. Meh I'm kinda like I'd just like to know what I'd get but screw it why not check em out. A salesman takes my keys for the appraisal and we hit the lot in the sub zero temperatures. I found a few black ones and we went out for a ride. This truck is leaps and bounds my sierra, the 5.3 finally has a set of *****, the interior is finally upgraded and the ride is superb. We head back inside and I'm greeted with "great news nick, I want to give you $2500 for your Sierra" naturally I was feeling a little better because after the $800 offer, $2500 is pretty decent. I agree we start talking incentives and that 42k truck turns into $34k, I got a good arp and left the dealership paying $500 a month. I have a full 72month or 120k warranty, they're covering the tires, wheels and I have the gap insurance, gentlemen I could not say no to the offer, not to mention no money down.

I got the 20's, running boards, towing package, a year of xm. The other truck I looked at had heated seats and the power rear window. It was built in Mexico. I went with the solid rear glass and built here in Indiana. Being a fellow union worker ya know. I just got back from the tint shop and here's how she sits now.

Very sharp truck! Good luck with it!

Just for my benefit, what were you trading in? Year, body, miles, condition... etc.

It's funny when the dealer offered me $2500 they said to go to car max and see what they would tell me, little did they know I was quite low balled. Thank you for all the kind words, this is my first new car ever and I'm really excited.

I traded in my 2000 sierra sle z71 it had 205k on it, I kept the Denali 20s I might put them on the new truck or sell them, sucks I put brand new geolanders on em.

wow 800 for that thing is an absolute shame.

I'm not sure I'd put those wheels on the new truck. I know you like them now, but I always think it looks a little funny when people put a generation prior's wheels on a newer truck. I'm sure they'll bring money on craigslist... but youre right it is too bad they are brand new tires, you'll never get all of that back.
