Billet Insert Installation Question
#1
I feel like an idiot for even asking about something as mundane as this. My billet insert instructions aren't taht great and have a question. It says to line my top tabs against the back of the grille. Doing that sets the grill back in the shell. It looks good, but it leaves a gap along the top(that no one will ever see). I just want to make sure that I do this right the first time and that it should be set back like that vs being further forward if I line up the bottom tabs. I'm pretty sure setting it back is the correct way, and I'm probably being too gunshy, but I just want to make sure.
Thanks guys,
Andrew
Set forward
Set back (like directions seem to show)
gap on top
tabs (top flush with the lowers going past the shell like directions show)

install the bottom part first and it will give you a good feeler on where the top part belongs. ive probably installed 10 of these grilles and havent followed the directions once. its a quality grille with junk directions IMO. wish i had pictures from behind my grille to show how i do it. i only drill 4 holes then i use those tabs to clamp onto the grille instead of sticking a screw through it where its visible. also 2 small vice grips help line everything up before drilling any holes

just checked mine and it does not have that gap up top. did you get the SS grille or the aluminum? i had fitment issues with the stainless grille and had to order the aluminum that fit in snug

Cool, thanks guys. yeah, I moved it further back like the directions said. Stewart, I got your message about 5 hours too late, I added those extra 4 screws, but might take em out like you said so that you can't see em. THat clamping should do the job. Either way, I have that gap up at the top, but it looks good from the front and you can't see it unless you are lying on the ground. I'll have to grab some pics
