Best way to clean nasty chrome wheels?
#1
I bought a set of chrome 20s the other day and they are in good shape they just set up for awhile and have what look like really dried brake dust on them or something. Its not rust, super clean will barely cut it with alot of elbow grease. Just wondering if there was something better out there that will work?

Barkeepers Friend contains oxalic acid, you're essentially burning off the crap on top of the surface. Chrome wheel cleaners like Hot Chrome or whatever it is called contain Ammonium bifluouride, which is the active ingredient in many rust removers. It is an extremely effective chemical, but shouldn't be used on a aluminum or other finished metals.
So I guess what I'm saying is a good chrome wheel cleaner that contains ABF will work well.

Dawn dish soap, mixed with spray nine. Soak them good and let them sit, then use super fine steel wool or SOS pad, lots of water. Like glass, dry them good then put some good chrome polish and wax on them

Yea after I found something to get the majority of nasty **** off I was going to come behind with mothers and polish them. Mothers is the best for protecting the wheels so they don't get in the shape they are now.
