Autometer pillar ???
#1
Is there a difference between '03 and '05 pillars? Jeg's only has autometer gauge pillars for '99-'03. I have an '05 and wondered if they are the same.
Is the tan VHT a decent match to the stock tan interior? Any tricks to applying the VHT?
Does the pillar just snap out, I can't seem to find any screws?
Any help would be appreciated.

Nice truck and mods. Anyways, I was wondering the same thing when I bought my Autometer single gauge A-pillar pod. I think it was listed as a '99-'03 also and it fit on my 2004, no problem. Yes, the pillar is snapped in. Give the pillar a good tug near the top and it will come right off.

I didn't paint mine yet. My dark charcoal interior color is almost as dark as the gauge pod color. I wish my truck had 3.73's. I bought my truck at the end of the 2004 model year (rebates!) and I could not find a black RCSB with a 5.3 and 3.73's, so I settled for the 3.42's. Why don't you like the suspension? Yeah, it's nothing like my 78 Z28's ride but it's alot more comfortable.
My truck does bounce alot. I added some spring clamps to the rear leafs and it helped the bouncing a little.

It's just the bouncing that bothers me. It feels almost like the shocks are bad and I have not even reached 10,000 miles yet.
I know what you mean about the rebates. I bought mine under the GM employee sale, for a little less than 17k. The funny thing is they gave me nearly what I paid for my trade in. I went in and told them I wanted a 5.3, G80, and 3.73's as close to base as I could get. The only options besides those are dual climate control, Z85, towing package and the upgraded wheels. When he found it, he said I hope you like gray because that's the only one with those options he could find. My wife said it's my favorite color since I am color blind. Honestly I could have cared less about the color as long as it was not red. There has to be a couple of hundred red ones around here.

The difference between the pre 03's and the post 03's is that the newer ones have the tweeter located on the pillar.
You can go to an auto paint store and have them custom mix you a batch of paint that is color matched with your interior color. That's what I did with mine.

black yukon, does the tweeter have a grill or does it just set behind the pillar. I don't believe mine has a grill anywhere.
How do you prep the pillar for the paint. It looks to me that if you had to sand and primer you would lose the texturing.
Thanks Kyle

I have a tan 02 interior and the VHT paint matched perfectly on the pillar.
Don't "give it a good yank"! Gently pull it loose with a little wiggle here and there gradually increasing the strength of your pulling. Yanks break stuff. I'm old and I tend to be rammy so I know from breaking stuff with yanking

I guess the tweeter only comes on some models. My buddy has a 05 P/U and the tweeters are about 5 inches up from the bottom and face the glass. their is a plastic grill covering it.
As far as prep, just rub it down with some rubbing alcohol to remove any oils. Use a good flexible primer. The stuff I used was made by SEM. It is a flexible primer made for plastic parts that I got from the auto paint store.
