i agree. look on ebay at the 1501bd fosgate amp they are selling for about 1/3 retail and are very powerful. i have a 1001bd fosgate and it pushes to p2 fosgate subs with room to spair.

Not much kind of equipment but hey, to each his own right?

You'd go broke if you tried to buy enough amplification to power that sub to what it says it can handle. IMO if your amp is 400w PEAK then I wouldn't even hook it up. You'll be under powering them with that little 150w RMS amp and you'll blow them up. I don't know anyone that is gonna hook up to subs and not try to push them even a little.

Try to find a good quality 700-1000w RMS amp to power them. Just make sure the amp will put out it's max power at the ohm load you decide to wire the subs at.. IE 4ohm mono or 1ohm mono.

Stay away from the Rockford Punch series.. Even the Power Series is not real impressive anymore. Ever since they went into Best Buy the quality went down hilll fast, kinda like Alpine did.

you could hook them up in 4 ohm and they will be fine. but they will not hit hard at all. i have a 5 channel autotek amp powering all mids, highs, and a 12 kicker comp vr in 2 ohm. it gets a little warm but has worked flawlessly.

hey 02denali,
thats just a autotek characteristic. I had a mx-1300 and mx-4300 and they would both always be hot. i think mine stayed so hot because of the black chrome though.

If he has a 5channel amp chances are good the sub channel is only rated at 4ohm capability. If he runs it at 2ohm that would explain why it gets hot.

Remmeber that if an amp says 2ohm stable, it usually means 2ohm stereo, not 2ohm mono. Big difference
