The first round of major upgrades for my 2005 Sierra HD was done by Secured Sound Plus on Route 6 in Westport, MA ( 1-508-636-4999).

They installed the Kenwood DDX7015 in dash receiver. This unit has many features including a 6.5"-wide, 16:9 touchscreen display, DVD-Video/CD/MP3/WMA playback, 24-bit digital-to-analog converters, and a GUI on-screen interface with touchscreen control. The fully-motorized 6.5"-wide LCD screen slides down for disc loading, then returns to one of 6 user-selected angles for optimum viewing.





They also added on the Kenwood KNA-DV4100 Navigation (pictured above the cup holders) -



This unit works hand in hand with the touch screen. It has a graphical interface that includes 2D and 3D map views with split screens that show detailed routing information and pop-up point-of-interest icons from a database of over 10,000,000 points-of-interest. Voice guidance gives turn-by-turn instructions, and a new 3-route comparison display allows me to select a route that is the shortest distance, the fastest time or normal.

There is also a SIRIUS Satellite Tuner hidden in the console. This provides a wide variety of channels that can be heard from coast to coast.

Each of the front headrests have 9" Vizualogic screens (yes - 9" ). The screen on the passenger's side also has a built in DVD player. These came built into the headrests so they were a pretty easy swap.

A Microsoft X-box is mounted under the rear seat for when it's time to play some games -



This truck will soon have a 9" lift and 37" tires so it's going to sit over a foot higher than stock. This camera will allow me to see what's going on back there and will also help with hooking up trailers. I'll be adding a second back-up camera over the license plate as soon as it's released. This will point directly onto the hitch.



It will probably take me a while to get used to operating this system but here is a basic rundown of what it can do -



The receiver can play the regular radio and satellite along with CDs, DVDs, MP3s and be used for navigation. Jumping over to the video feed option allows me to use the switch pictured above. I can then feed it signal from one of the two back-up cameras, X-Box or DVD player in the rear screen. I can also have any mix of audio/video options so I can have any video source displayed along with any sound source. The rear screens also have the option of receiving any video source. Sound for those screens is provided to the rear passenger's by a set of wireless headphones.

Secured Sound also installed an adapter that allows all of the steering wheel controls to function properly, a remote start with turbo timer, 20% tint on the side windows and clear protectant for the front of the hood.

All of the exterior mods will be done towards the end of next week and the wheels/tires and lift will be going on after Christmas.

That's some very nice work. Those headrests look awesome! The interior looks like something straight off of "Pimp My Ride".

 

Damn that is just sooo.. cool, thats the exact head unit I want for my 03 Yukon. May I ask how much did cost you (Kenwood DDX7015)$ ? I mostly buy my stereo equipment from crutchfield, but for some reason their website says that head unit doesnt fit my vehicle? That whole system must of cost you an arm an leg, lol.

I goto Secured Sound for all of my audio video upgrades and tint so they took care of me. I was talking to one of the guys over there when I picked up the truck. He told me that it would be about $8000.+ if they did another system like this. I paid about $7k for everything.

Any problem with the screen hitting the shifter on the column? I was wanting to install the Alpine in dash DVD player in my 2002 2500HD, but the screen will hit the shifter..... Any suggestions?


BTW- That is a VERY nice and CLEAN setup!! Should make road trips a lot more fun!!

 

No problems at all. It flips down from the bottom to install DVDs so it has plenty of room. The Pioneer in my '02 folds down so it makes contact with the shifter.
