I was wondering if anyone on here and smoothed and polished their factory aluminum wheels? I ran across an article. Where they polished up some factory wheels. I am wondering if the center caps are also aluminum or are the painted plastic.

center caps on factory silverado rims are plastic. Post the article if you have it. I have a set of factory rims and would be interested in it, as my factory rims have about and inch of dust on them.

Pull one of the center caps off, I think it's actually a thin stamped peice of aluminum attached to the plastic backing. Don't know if the aluminum facing is thick enough to take some rigorous polishing?
I contemplated doing this or having them powder-coated black with a Polished edge but it's pretty pricy to do and the rims are so narrow to begin with.
