aimed my headlights

Just my opinion... with the price of HID's now, I wouldn't mess with silverstars. I have Silverstars in my Tahoe and have had several sets in the Truck. After my most recent silverstar burnout, I went with a DDM tuning 35W 5000K kit and the difference is amazing. Now I feel like I have dingy regular halogens when I drive the Tahoe after driving the truck. I will say though that the Silverstars are an improvement over regular halogens but for the price I am a bit dissappointed in their longevity.

that would probably work. and make sure the beams are straight, not cocked off to one side or the other. on my passenger side i could see deer in the woods while going straight down the road. lol

The headlights were but the ballasts for the foglights (880) had the wrong connectors so I did a simple cut and spice on the foglight harnes. The most difficult part was finding where I wanted to mount the ballasts.

Installed a set of DDM Raptors, 35w 4500k in the low beams, still need to aim them, but they are badass. Tons of light output, installed one side, then turned them on, it's the difference between someone shining a plastic Everlast flashlight at you and a Q beam, haha.
The kit, the relay (which is recommended for a constant voltage draw), and shipping came to $49.88, not bad IMO. Took me about an hour to install.

Yeah don't waist your time with silverstars. They will only last 4-6 months of normal use. I actually called and complained after my third set of $50 lights. I could have installed HID's in my highs, lows and fogs for that amount and would have been happier with the light output. As far as HIDs go for me the 35w would be the best wattage. I have a friend that installed the 55w HIDs to replace his 35w and was pulled over 3 times in the first week. He had to aim them at the ground to get the cops to leave him alone.

Can you put them in the dtrl spot? I think most people have problems with my body style fogs and hid's. I guess they get too hot? Or is there a real low watt version that you can get for fogs?

If you go 35w, I haven't heard of people with our housing (tahoes, silverados, suburbans, etc) having any problems with them. However, I have read that the HID bulb is too long for our fogs and that a spacer is needed, and even with the spacer, the housing on the inside gets burned from the heat output. I wouldn't put them in the DTRL because I don't know if those housings were ever intended to have a light that bright in there, you might risk spreading light all over the place and blinding people, but then again, it could work perfectly. Just my $.02.
