Default Accident

Just wanted to show yall the accident I was in on July 20, 2007. I was driving my brother's truck on our way to Texas (on I-20) from Georgia. The truck was a 2003 Sierra Duramax and we were pulling our 25 ft gooseneck trailer loaded down with about 5,000 pounds of lumber plus some antique tractor equipment and deerstands. We just got into Louisiana on the straightaways. I was just trucking along and some idiot in a green pathfinder tries to change lanes and hit the back of the trailer causing us to fishtail and go off the road to the right. It all happened so fast, I was just trying to get it back on the road so the truck wouldn't go in the trees. If we hit the trees I knew we would all be dead. The trailer started taking out trees 6 to 8 inches in diameter, then finally hit a larger tree and caused us to start flipping. We flipped once with the trailer attached and once the trailer broke loose we flipped again. Luckily I almost had the rig back on the road. By the grace of God, I was the only one hurt. You can see blood all over the place on the inside of the truck. I have a pretty big hole in the top of my head, as you can see in the picture. My brother and bestfriend were passengers, shook up but not hurt. This is a good testimony to always wear seatbelts, because you never know when something like this is going to happen.

Glad to hear you're okay. Safety features have improved dramatically over the years, it used to be the case that if you were involved in a rollover you were dead...

any concussions or anything?

It was a hit and run. Makes me sick... I'm not sure if I had a concussion. I am a pretty hardheaded guy from what everyone tells me, haha. I think I just passed out for a second. I pretty much remember everything. Spoon, you are right, safety features have gotten a lot better. I hate to think what would happen if I was in a toyota or anything else. Yall have to remember that is a 9,000# truck that came down on that driver side roof. I think the truck held up pretty well.
