damn sorry to see that. looks like you are definitely getting it painted now! As for Maaco, my buddy back in the midwest had his box chevy painted with flake root beer brown from Maaco...i know. All I can say is it turned out stunning. That being said, being a more high end finish I think they don't have a choice but to make it look good. The guy who painted it though was also known for good work. On the other hand, Ive seen two cars down here in South Florida painted at Maaco and you would think you could do better with some cans of spray paint.. It all depends on who is behind the paint gun and not really the store itself. Go check out the local guy and like someone mentioned before, look at a few cars that were just done. If you paint it white, should not be as big of an issue but make sure because they are just doing white, they don't do a quicky.... Good luck brother!
So after 15, almost 16 years I decided it was time for a new look too. Custom stripes, body side molding, flares and new shoes all color inspired by the colors in the original Z71 decal. I custom designed the stripe configuration, laid'em out and a friend layed down the new paint after we cut and buffed the entire truck. All the white paint is OEM. Tires are the new Nitto Terra G2's in 305 x 75 x 17 on timeless Mickey III's

your cab visor, who makes it and how was it to install, always wanted one for my 99 but am leary of having to drill holes in my cab..... Its between one of those and a set of roof lights...

Lund originally offered it, "Lunar Visor." Lund has been sold. I originally bought mine through Summitt.
No holes drilled in roof. 1/4 x 20 studs set in super adhesive block that bonds to roof. End attachment points use pre-existing OEM holes under the seal. Great design well thought out.
Mines been on my truck since they were first available, maybe 8 years?
No regrets Good luck finding some leftovers. I don't see too many on these trucks.
