Default 2001 Silverado Z71 "RBP" Style Mesh Grille

Well since I cant find but only one "RBP" style grille (Mesh/Riveted look) and im not gonna pay $1200 for something like that, I decided to just build one. Since I still have my old truck (2000 Z71) for parts, I took the grille off of it and cut out the middle of it with a Saw.

Secondly I bought 2 piece's of 3/16" thick 1.5"x4' and one piece 1.5"x3' steel strips. I cut the top piece at 42.25", the bottom at 39.5", and the sides at 11.75" for the frame.

I bought 20 round top bolts for the riveted look. Im going to figure out where I want them and drill the holes in the strips and the grille. im pretty sure im going to sandwhich the mesh between the strips and the plastic on the grille. idk how see through itll be but im thinking about buying some finer mesh to shroud over the radiator and all that and paint it black so nobody can see behind the mesh.

I know this is a little expensive mesh to some of you but I bought on Ebay a 12"x24" sheet of 1.8mm wire mesh powder coated black already, it was like $65 for it.....a little expensive but I wanted something powder coated and durable enough so nothing will tear it or bend it real easy. a 12"x48" sheet is perfect for any 99-02 Silverado Grille if your doing what im doing. Im going to repaint the stock chevy grille and Metal Strips Flat Black, The bolts are Stainless Steel so they'll pop out, Hopefully this isn't a waste of money and looks decent! I want my truck to look like those advertised by RBP. Nobody makes Inserts or Grilles that are Mesh and that style somewhat cheap so im improvising and doin it myself. Tell me what ya'll think of my little project and hopefully ya'll will like it too

Definitely post up pictures when it's done. I've never liked RBP grilles personally, but I judge that on a truck-by-truck basis.

Nice. I made a grille like that before I did the HD conversion. My buddy works for a home remodeling company. We pulled some scrap gutter guard out of the trash. It's already powdered black and looks identical to mesh on grilles. And it was free

Can't really see it but that's the best I have. Not bad for free scraps. The width of the cutter is almost the same as the opening of the grille so I really didn't have to cut much of the gutter guard.
