Question 03' steering wheel swap into a 00'

How can you modify a 03' wheel to fit in a 00' truck.??? the 03 wheel is splined diff. I was wondering if anybody has tried it or has any ideas. The most obvious way is to just swap the whole column out but that would be a PITA, I could also bore the hole to fit but IDK how I would secure the wheel to keep it from free spinning.... that would be pointless if if wouldn't stay secure

let the thought process begin.. surely someone has done it or made an attempt

I have a billet specialties wheel in it right know after 6yrs of hot&cold hands I want something stock and i like the look of the 03'up wheels. i'll post a pic of it when i'm not at work.

1+ on the machine shop idea and I there might be a way to pin it but it would have to be done from the back so i'm not real sure how to get that to work but i'll look into

You could have the splines machined out of the steering wheel and have a keyway or two cut, you will have to cut a keyway into the shaft, but you might be able to dremel that yourself. Its not easy, but it can be done.
