Default 03 Silverado guys

88937339, supposedly this is the non-textured paintable upper bumper plastic piece. Retails for 104.00 and change. There is no lower piece as of yet but I may paint mine. I don't want to be an SS posuer and get the front bumper cover, so I am going to powder coat and paint my front end all black. Can anyone confirm or deny this part number?

I know I asked this in another thread, but why are people buying paintable bumper covers? Someone mentioned their stock one being textured, but on my 03 the plastic on the bumper is smooth. Are the "paintable" ones a different material like fiberglass or something?
I'd like to black out the whole bumper (even the chrome) like the Dodge and Ford "Sport" packages, what are my options with the chrome?

03red you got any pics of the front of your truck, I'd like to see that bumper, I'm thinking about either painting mine of getting the SS bumper but they are $$$$

You'd probably have to mar or scuff the chrome up, or something like that, to make the paint adhere to it, i doubt it would if it wasnt screwed with somewhat.
