Question 03 factory fog lights????

i got a set of factory fog lights and looked at the instructions and it says you have to program the bcm to recognize the lights. to anyone who has done this, did you have to get it programmed or did they just work? if you have to, then these vehicles today are getting to damned smart for our good!!!!!

i've got the same problem. my truck didn't come with fog lights but i added them on later, so the vehicle has to be programed for the lights. my gf is paying for them to be done for a Christmas present, all that has to be done is to go to a gm dealer and be hooked up to a tech II (from what i hear). they'll charge you by the half hour i believe, and it should take just that. my gm dealer said it'll cost about $30, try calling a few and get some prices going. either that or rewire the lights to an auxiliary switch. sorry for not having a better knowledge of it, i'm sure someone who does will chime in.

You should tell your girlfriend that edit is the only way to get it to work!

Edit wont do it. If you want you can bypass the BCM altogether and wire them up so they stay on when your brights are on. Thats what I did with mine. Went and got a quality Bosch relay and wired it all up to switch in my truck. Pretty easy to do. The relay package had a wiring diagram on it. Thats all the dealers will do is hook your truck up to a TechII and tell the BCM you have fog lights.

its a pain it the butt, but yes you have to take it to the dealer. I just bought after market lights and cut the holes myself, didnt take long and if your careful doesnt look bad either.

mine didnt come with foglights, and I got them in after my wreck and they work fine. I even have the button on the interior to turn them on and off. I didnt have to take mine to the dealership to get any kind of programming at all.
