I played around with an '05 Silverado SS tonight but never actually got the chance to run him. But from the little 35mph roll-ons we were doing I seemed to be pulling on it?? So my question to you guys is:

In an actual race between an '05 Silverado SS all Stock vs. an '04 GMC Sierra 1500 Z-71 5.3L with a K&N FIPK, AirRaid Throttle Body Spacer, Edelbrock Headers, Superchips MAX Micro Tuner, Custom Exhaust and Magnaflow Catback who would win??

A stock SSS might not down shift into 1st from a 35 mph roll, I didn't on stock programing with 3.73's, I think SS's have 4.10's. Then again gearing might be different between AWD and 2wd SS's. I think 05's were 2wd. From a dead stop I'd have to give it to the SS.

 

Yeah I stepped mine down too but it didn't downshift it just pulled it from the gear I was in. My truck has the 3:73 rear end in it too. I guess the only way to find out is to run one from a dig but just seeing what you guys thought or if anyone had similar races like this.

 

You should be able to pull on a stock 2wd SS with the mods you have by a lil bit.

Not trying to be a dick, but with the mods you have your probably only making about 10-15 hp. over stock. Plus you being a crew cab you're probably alittle heavier. I would have to give the win to the SS.

 

how much do u think im making over stock with my set up, intake,lts,w4m retune, no cats, custom single/dual 50 series? hopefully more than 15? it feels alot better than my dads stock 06 sierra.

 

Yeah, I'd think he'd take you good from a dig but this is all conjecture of course. The Chevy SSS runs mid 14's don't they? You'd be lucky to be running low 15's if that.

i've always found the easiest way to answer your question is to find the guy and line up.
i know i can beat tylers truck........ until we actually race that is.

 

Id say the SS would win from a dig. I had a reg cab 5.3l Z71 with 4.10's with similar mods as you, and could bairly take a stock SS. From a roll I could pull on them, but from a dead they would get me about .5 truck, and I would have to play catch up. My truck ran 14.70's@93.
