i raced my brother. he has a new completely stock f150 ecrb 4x4 and we were like dead even. i would think my truck would be a lot faster given its a regular cab and flareside, its a lot smaller, and i have intake and exhaust (which doesnt give much but i noticed an improvement over stock). is my truck just not running good or are those trucks faster from the factory? he said its 300hp and mine is what 285hp? should i have beaten him?

 

I've poked around the ford forums and it seems to have a lot to do with the wheel options some combo's were good for a few tenths.

its the run of the mill f150 that you see a million of them driving around. not sure what wheel options your referring to. my buddy has one with a long bed and 4.10 gears and he pulls on me, i was completely stock then though and had a passenger where he was by himself, im sure the gears helped him more than anything, at least i dont get 11mpg lolol.

go ahead and get on a dyno and get her tuned... you'll have him by at least a length... those 99 computers are known for false knock-retard and possibly the worst computer to have during the 99-01 era.

 

yeah i planned on getting a mail order tune with 02+ computer. just sucks i have to put all this money into it just to beat a stock f150.

yeah i know i can mod it more to beat him, just dont want to throw money at mods to find out that something else was causing me to loose, it does have over 100k miles so i wouldnt be surprised if something is bad. my fuel pump is noisy as hell after warmed up, maybe thats it? i do get some smoke at WOT, must be the stock tune or something.
