so im on my way back from church today and i see this really nice lightning doin abt 60 in a 40 so i figure eh what the hell ill see if he'll go. i got up next to him and we slowed down to abt 20 and i honked it and we took off i got the back of my bed to his front end but he slowly caught me then eventually left me. he had prolly abt 2trucks before we let off. i talked to the guy and he told me he had a 4lb pulley and a chip, asked me what i had and i told him. i didnt think he'd compliment me even tho i lost. but atleast i kno how i hold up against those now. he said he was only gettin like 345hp to the wheels but he didnt say nething abt his tq. but ima try him again in a month, im gettin new intake manifold, intake, all new valve train, and 4:10's

Stock for stock, it's a drivers race. A mildly modded L will outrun it no problem. They're pretty close, seein as we have as much tq as them and they weigh an extra 8 or 900 lbs ( offsets the hp difference ). They will take us in top speed.

With the new stuff you should be able to take him. He may have only had 345hp but Im sure he had almost 500rwtq. Those blowers love to make torque.

 

yea even he said top end lightnings hold almost no chance against the srt10's in top end. so what are the lightnings puttin out power wise? i wonder what my truck will be puttin out after i put that stuff on it?

 

I dont know what the top end refers to, but i can hold them off till the end of the quarter, and thats long enough for me.

Lightning put out is 360/440 stock for the 99-00 years.

It was bumped to 380/450 in the 01-04 years, although underrated in the worst way.

I dynoed earlier this year with just a KN drop in filter and dynoed 371/434 to the rear wheels. With a 15% loss thru drivetrain, that comes out to 427/500 stock flywheel roughly. BTW-its an 03'

 

Damn thats pretty stout. You may have a factory freak. My buddy's 02 L had pulleys tune and exhaust and put close to ur numbers.

 

Bone stock, with the paper filter and everything I put down 358/433, and that was with 65,xxx on an 01. Like Dan said, they're grossly under-rated from the factory. Which is fine by me.
