good kill! I personally dont see the big deal with the L's. I test drove a few before I bought my truck, and was not impressed with the power. This is not a biased review either, i was a mopar guy before so anything was faster than my Dakota R/T. They are pretty Trucks. I just couldnt see paying the money they wanted for one used. Anything is modable, Gm has way more options....

They are great trucks that are a lot of fun.

I like my truck now a lot too.

Just because its another brand doesn't make it bad.

Good kill OP
what kind of power were you putting down when you ran a 12.2, or what the average rwhp on a lightning with those mods running 12.2

I honestly don't remember the exact dyno numbers anymore but it was about 440rwhp/540rwtq or so.

The biggest problem with lightnings are the weak rods that don't allow you to spin the motor. That power was made only spinning to 5400rpms.

That is where I think gms (maybe dodge too, just not familiar) make up for having less power (to run the same speed) is that they can spin so much higher and stay in each gear longer because of that.

The lightning are good truck and can be fast, iv seen alot of them run out here and i know what it takes to make them go, with are da the fastest one stock to ever hit are track is 13.8, most will just barly hit 12s with all the bolt ons. The reasen Ls run as good as they do is cause the 5.4 is the only engine they have to play with so every L you will ever see is working on the same engine, this takes all the guess work out of them, for 11 years they have been messing with them to get them were they are today.. however chevy has lots and lots of different engines and parts to chose from so only a few run really good mod for mod. But if someone really wanted to they could blew the doors off anything that 5.4 could ever do.

The last time a lightning messed with me on the street, I opened the cutout and did a quick WOT pass by his window. He backed off after that lol, I'm sure he was probably stock though.

Never can get a good run in with a modded lightning on the street because they usually hook, whereas I spin like crazy down low.

Yeah they really shine up top but like was said they have a hard time 60 footing good, the one that runs good here is a stock motor with ported kennebell, bolt ons, 15 psi, stall, gears, race gas.... best run is like 11.8 at 118 but his average 60 foot is 1.72 witch is down from what the chevys do when they run that good.

There's also a new record for a stock pulley lightning just broken. He went 12.5x at 107 I believe or maybe 12.4x.

And you don't port a kenne bell

But it's ok 81, ben's truck is quicker than mine. Fml.

Dont know anything when it comes to blowers but he has had 4 different sc on there and this one has done the best so far, 11.8 at 3000 feet da, i think he would go 11.3 - 11.4 if he was in -da. I didnt think that was bad for never taking the valve covers off?? maybe theres more in it..
