Default Beat a LS1 WS6 Firebird

Saturday night went out with some guys I met over on LS1Tech. Ended up out on a deserted 2-lane highway in the middle of nowhere, it was pretty sweet. Dead road, guys trailered track cars out to street race. We were out there for almost 2 hours and only 1 car passed through. I lined up against one of the LS1Tech guys and we took off, I launched quicker and kept the lead all the way up to about 110 mph or so when he pulled ahead. We were pretty much dead even acceleration-wise during the entire run, I just happened to get the launch on him and get ahead. Thought that was pretty good on a 85-90* night in full street trim. I usually take my tailgate, spare, and two speaker boxes out when I race at the track, which leaves me probably 150-200 lbs lighter.

Anyway, the night ended early when one of the trailered cars hit a bump and put a hole through his oil pan and dumped oil all over the highway. Bummer...I was gonna line up against a 2000 FRC Vette with full exhaust work next....

Thanks! I think 4wd gave me the advantage, no prep to the street obviously so I was fine like always but the cars were having a little bit of a problem hooking.

I get very few street races and am very rarely beaten out of the hole. The big advantage of 4wd. It's so much fun. I've taken several LS1 Camaro's, Cobra Mustangs, GT's etc... from a dig. I can only remember one car taking me from the line on the street, an 87 Buick GN on drag radials.
