Talking 318 vs. Cummins

This happened not to long ago. At my school we always have heated debates on what is faster, gas or diesel, and i am on the gas side of things. So there is a kid with a 97 cummins auto RCLB 4x4 bone stock except for dual 5in stacks. He thinks he can take my RCSB ram 4x4 with a 318 5 speed stock except for k&n intake and single 3 1/2in exhaust. I told him to meet me at NR 40 and Mink St. going east on saturday at 11pm. He shows up and we wait for the light to go to green. I rev it up to about 2500rpm while he seems to be going off idle. The light finally changes to green. I dump the clutch and it side steps a touch and all I see is a big green and silver ram blowing out black smoke in front of me. I feather the clutch to get back under control. On the 1-2 upshift i get spin but the lsd catches it and now we're off the races. Up to about 50 he has me but my lighter weight advantage comes to play. I finally pass him at about 60 and i don't look back, runnin her as hard as possible. I finally let off at 90 by which i had 5 lengths on him. At school I didn't hear anything more about diesels for a good couple weeks.

Good kill. Be careful of any of the newer diesels. They are a good bit faster.

nah no ET's the closest track which is only 10 miles from my house is NHRA sanctioned and you need to be 18 to drive or have a parent sign off for you.

those diesels can be quick and I know the newer ones can pick up serious power with just a programmer. They have better torque too, which is what a heavy truck needs to get up and go.

I will attest to the new diesels being much faster than older ones. I would smoke the doors off a stock hemi 4x4 any day of the week and twice on sunday with my very mildly modded cummins. I have beaten 2x4 hemis as well as 5.3 liter chevy 4x4, 4x2 and fords are a joke. These were all extended cab or quad cab models, same as my truck. Nice kill anyway.
