Default Whipples, 408s, 4.10s, OH MY!

So after a year or more in the making, I am about to dive into this engine build. For those of you that do not know me, I have a 2000 Silverado RCSB with a stock 6.0L that I bought from BigTex about 4-5 years ago. It is time to get this truck to a point where I can be happy with the performance. I have someone that is an instructor at an automotive school that is going to be building my motor for me. Below are the specs that I am planning (some will be general as I am still planning the exact specifications):

6.0 magged and honed .030" over
Wiseco Flat Top Pistons CR at 10.5:1
SCAT Forged Pro Comp Rods
Plasma Moly Rings filed to fit
Custom ground cam (need help on the exact specs)
Stock Crank, polished
Stock 317's
Single roller billet timing set
Stock truck intake and TB
ARP Head bolts or studs
Clevitte Main and Rod Bearings
High volume oil pump
Cometic MLS Head Gaskets

On top of this engine, I am planning on running my old school whipple. I still owe the two-belt system, but am going to have Whipple go through it completely and rebuild/refresh bearings, etc. The plan is to have 10 psi total, and I know to do this efficiently, I will need to fit some sort of inter/after cooler. Additionally, I have 4.10 gears and a freshly built 4l60E from a local shop. I know that the 4l60 will be one of the weak links in this project, but due to budget, I will need to replace that with a 80E later on.

So, before I start, just wanted to get some feedback, suggestions, answers to some of my questions.

What cam should I run for this setup?

What CR should I be running with the boost? I was thinking 9:1 or so.

I know there are a few of you guys that have done an intercooler on the older whipples. Is it easy to do? Will any intercooler work? Do I use an inter or after cooler?

I will think of other questions after I submit this, but I think that is all I have now.

Pics will come soon!

With size chamber do those heads have? Flat tops on a 408, if its close to a stock deck will be in the range of 11:1 with a 70cc chamber. Might be a little more than you want.

I am not sure what the two belt was. I am thinking I saw someone on here post that it was 1.9L.

Thanks, I will make sure my builder knows that. We are still working on the exact specs of pistons and cam. I believe we were going to use whatever pistons would get us in that range. I know that the heads and gaskets do play a role in the CR. I believe the heads were going to be around the 317 stock numbers of 71cc's.

Yea you will want some dish pistons for sure. 10:1 compression would be fun with the blower and 10psi. That will allow you some room to grow boost wise as well. Any pics of the truck?

Looks like a nice build. I am curious to see how much power it makes. I have been considering the scat rods for a budget 370 build, have heard they can take a good beating.

Don't have any pics yet, I will be starting in the next week or so, I will keep the thread updated though.

Still in the planning phase of this guys, had another question. Do you all think that I could get by with just plain ole' stock 317s without any work done to them? I want to save a little money here if I can and then later down the road get them reworked.
