Default Whipple 2.9 into 2000 RCSB Z71

After several months, the Whipple 2.9 is finally on my LQ9!

It was more work than originally anticipated, but I think it came out pretty good. I still have more work to do, but she is alive. I plan to put it on the dyno in the next week or two to tune it and get some baseline numbers. Parts I used are below:

Whipple 2.9 kit for 2010+ Camaro
ID850 injectors
Ported GMPP Ls3 heads
BTR dual springs
BTR Stage 2 cam (227/242 .614"/.592" 122+6)
Ls9 gaskets
UMI 90mm throttle body
Magnafuel 9950 EFI boost regulator
6 AN fuel lines, plumbed into factory feed and return lines

The alternator bracket sucked. I chose to use the factory truck accessories because I wanted to run the hydroboost set up. If I didn't, I would recommend using the 2010+ Camaro accessories. I used the 2010+ Camaro Evap set up. Corvette C5 upper radiator hose. Ls3 Camaro (not Corvette) water pump, 60mm idler for alternator bracket pulley.

Next on the list is figuring out my fuel pump set up. I am debating to go with a twin intank set up, or external pump with a sumped tank. The fuel system up front is ready, I would just need to run an 8AN line to the Y, and probably use the factory feed as the return.

Intake base, I wish I would have taken a picture of the intercooler, I think it is twice the size of the maggie unit I had before.

Wow that's bad *** , sick truck !

How much boost you plan on running ?
I've never seen a cable throttle body mounted like that LOL

And don't forget to weld your water pump pulley .

Thats awesome! Congrats on doing something different!

Still only a 6rib setup? I wouldve done 8 at a min, even though it means all new pulleys.

What an odd cam

I am not sure, I think the pulley now should put me at 10, maybe a little more.

As far as the TB, the only way it would fit. The DBW guys just flip it 180 degrees. It does make some interesting noises at part throttle.

I didn't weld the water pulley because I plan on taking it off and slapping an 8 rib aluminum pulley.

Thank you sir! I will do an 8 rib eventually, wanted to get it on the road and out of the garage.

I went on the Camaro5 and CTS-v forums and everyone seems to like the Brian Tooley cams. I was going to go with GT-11 cam, but i heard the lobes are hard on the valvetrain.

That's not too lumpy. I tuned the BTR stage 3 cam in Razor's camaro and it idles super smooth. Those huge LSA cams don't give it much bark.

Yea nothing lumpy about a 122LSA cam. Super cool build man. That thing is going to be a beast. Hopefully you turn it up past 10 psi and put that big blower to work. That blower would make the ultimate daily driver truck IMO. Good work man
