I could see that being transformed into a 4x4 A-Team version van. I like it!!!

Ordered my delete kit, ordered filters, headlights, MAP sensor and wiper blades from RockAuto.

Waiting on my dealer friend to tell me which half of 04 I have so I can price out HPOPs

Last thing I am looking at is oil cooler relocations. I cant, for the life of me understand how 1 piece of machined aluminum and 5 lines and a chinese cooler can be $1700. As a machinist, doesnt make sense to me. Still trying to find out why they are so much, and if its better to do an upgraded internal cooler with a coolant filter vs external.

Last but not least, looking at update kits. Since I have to take the turbo off to delete, going to do 1 stop shop on it all. More money up front, but saves time in the long run

Default Sick.0

I had a 07 250 king ranch that already had egr delete when I bought it but the head gaskets blow two weeks after I bought it. They have a few big issues and a few small ones but once they are all fixed the 6.0 are great motors the main problem is the tty head bolts they are small and stretch under boost and the gaskets lift also need a updated oil cooler hpop and the injectors like to go out once they get 100,000 miles or so that’s the main big parts I have done several of these including my own do it right the first time and you will be ok only use the factory ford head gaskets they come with the new stand pipes don’t buy any other brand and ARP head studs is a must there is no way around it and always use the motorcraft Powerstroke oil and filters it does matter with these motors the injectors will last longer if you do. Google 6.0 Powerstroke you will see the hundreds of write ups and this solution is the best

I plan to run Rotella T6 in it, with Wix or OE filters. Part of my pressure problem may be the filter/cap assembly so I bought those from Ford based on my vin, starting cheap, but I still have to rip off the turbo for the delete and the HPOP is rigggggght there, so it'd be dumb to not do it. Also looking at blue spring update with the better pipes and turbo drain.

Do you have a link to the updated cooler? I am really struggling with my decision on the cooler, mainly because of the money. Its hard to justify the cost when I cant see the benefits of an external. And some of the "updated" coolers are like $96 and others are $399, and I dont know if its all the same **** out of China, of if there is a legit difference in quality and fitment

I do not plan to turn it up, and vans are detuned from trucks (235 vs 325hp), so van are even easier on heads/bolts. The lift I have available is too close to the back wall of the garage to lift the body off, so I will need to pay someone to do the heads and thats not gonna be a palatable cost, yet. So if it ***** a head/gasket honestly it will probably get a GM motor/trans/tcase and I'll sell the 6.0/5R110W for what I can and just live with the limits of a gas motor in a van with a GVWR of 11k. Honestly that sounds miserable tho haha.

Look up sinster diesel they have them in a stage 1 bulletproof kit trust me don’t buy cheap parts for these motors 6.0’s are expensive but it will cost you more than you can imagine I have never did a van but I will tell you that the cab doesn’t have to be removed from a truck some say it has to be but it doesn’t

Body certainly has to come off for studs in the van. Might get by with doing bolts in cab, but studs are a whole new issue. Its tighter in there than a DOHC in a Mustang IMO.

Ive been on Sinister. There are where I wondered where my money was going. They have 6 gaskets, a tube and a spring for $399. Where as the blue spring update through Ford is ~$60. So I am interested to know why they are so proud of their stuff, other than to make a buck. For the most part I will get my update parts from the dealer because I have friend in parts, but that doesnt mean OE is the best for everything. Sinister is who I am going with for the coolant filter if I stay internal, so they will get some money from me for sure.

Sinister has a 12% off that expires in a couple hours. I called and spoke with the tech who was super helpful, and I placed a big order with them;

HPOP
Coolant filter kit
Updated oil cooler with cover and gaskets
2003-2004 (I have an early 2004) update kit (stand pipes, "blue" spring update, degas bottle lid, etc etc)

Need to get strainers and the IPR/ Oil pressure sensors next

ICP and ICR are on the way too

A lot of what I am replacing may actually work perfectly fine, however its all hard to get to and I want to fix it all while the turbo is off for the delete. Once I do all this, I'll put it together and log the FICM and if voltage is low, it'll get one of those too.

Already looking at selling my 408 to help this project along

Got a hold of the relevant service records. Also pulled the VIN at the dealer. OE block heater, 4.10s with limited slip rear, essentially a stripper cargo wagon that was upfitted. Medium Flint interior, Sound Insulation Package 1, 6340GAW rear axle. Built May 1, 2004. Nothing spectacular except for the 4x4 upfit and custom interior.

Truck was decommissioned in 2011, 167k
Oil Pressure issue noted 2017, 179, 545
Auctioned 2018, 179,566

Has not had a HPOP, injectors or heads done. Trans was last serviced in 2011, only been a couple miles but Im still gonna do it as I have everything on the way for it.

Friend just had his 6.0 returned to him from a weekend at Ford and he had essentially the same issue and they replaced the pressure sensors and pigtails and its fixed. So, there is a chance that pressure wasnt ever low, and it was just a bad sensor. Either way, the motor supposedly only drove ~40mi with lower oil pressure at idle. Not losing my mind about that yet.
