GMC, yeah, I'm going back with the 2 piece steel shafts, with a 3/4 ton slip yoke and conversion U joint.

I know Kurt, the top hole is broke out, I bought it just as you see it basically. I'm not worried about the break. I'm sure sooner or later I'll need to pull the trans for a rebuild, it'll get media blasted then. Maybe painted black or something, probably just left bare aluminum.

Erik (Dark Halo) would have to chime in on that... I know there's at least a shift kit and maybe some other simple mods, but I know its all stock hard parts...

What are you gonna do as far as trans settings? I know with the shift kit youll need to have the shift times @ 0, and Im assuming you'll have the TM at zero as well. Line pressure should be stock......but wont these settings yield the trans shifting too hard and potentially breaking stuff? It's seems counterproductive to have to put TM back in to keep it from shifting too hard

I'm sure it'll take a bit of getting used to, I'm going to drive with the settings all stock for a few days until I get a better feel for how the trans acts. Then adjust from there... I can tell you this now, there WON'T be any TM going back in it I like shifts quick, firm, and positive and in no way do I want the trans to feel anything close to stock... Just my taste.

I'm very picky about my trans tuning, Ill try to mirror my 60Es tune as close as possible(mostly lockup to begin with), then adjust things that are 80E specific.... I consider myself better at making a trans act right with tuning software than I am tuning an engine to run correctly... I can make it all work but I like to describe it as a caveman with a club, senselessly beating the keyboard with said club till it does what I say

Yep, I think I have a very similar taste in trans settings. I like a very nice firm shift that I can feel in the seat. Stock trans settings are horrible.
