Still waiting on the brand spanking new block, BTR stage 4 truck cam, and spring kit.

Going to order some Schoenfeld swap headers today, probably a gm performance oil pump, debating fuel pumps still, it's a toss up between an in tank walbro and an in tank aeromotive, need to find a corvette filter and regulator combo. Block comes with main bolts, will reuse my cross bolts from old block since it doesn't include those.

Can't decide between a new set of stock TTY bolts or the Chinese head studs feom pro comp.

Decided to stick with my 700r4 so now I'm shopping for a rebuild kit, any recommendations? Also need to buy that stupid spacer for the torque converter and flywheel

And I posted for help with injectors selection in the air and fuel section but no nibbles yet. Guess that's enough for now.

Getting awfully close to my 3k budget, starting to doubt I'm going to make it.

Running total to this point is 2 grand. Including the harness being reworked and a 400 dollar junk yard motor, hoping to recoup a couple hundred bucks when I sell my old tbi 5.7 and this 5.3 block I won't be using

That motor was clean. It's always good to go through and freshen things up, but you probably could of ran it as is to save some cash.

Looks like a nice build

Run a flexplate/spacer combo from a 6.0/80E truck. Works better than those little crank extensions.

Oh no doubt, I didn't know anything about ls engines when I bought it 2 weeks ago. I'm hard core small block chevy so I figured I'm in here I might as well rebuild it. That was before I knew how much rebuilding an ls costs.

300 bucks for a cam, 400 dollars for head studs, 200 bucks for main studs, 200 for a gasket set. It's a little rediculous. You can rebuild a whole 350 for what the head studs cost on these engines.

Should have researched better but I'm here now so I refuse to half *** it.

And I really wanted to put the 4.8 pistons in a 5.3, no good reason it was just something I really wanted to do. From my understanding it should put me at 10 to 1 with stock 862 heads. If I get brave I might clean up the bowls and pocket port the heads a little. But probably not since they are getting a valve job and I'd hate to ruin that with a stray dremel.
