Default Tubbing an OBS Project

Just wanted to try and document this part of my build as much as possible for anyone who has this in mind..... Got this done in a day so far, removed rearend, cut holes for wheels and tubs, measured for new wheel tub, started grinding old perches off axel tubes & measured the new distance from backing plate to backing plate of the mockup rims with the tires im gonna be using.... Ill be taking 3" off each side of the axel tubes, ordering some moser axels, new ends and possibly trying to convert over to some disc brakes, throw the 3.42 gears in w/ a girdle cover, and yes this is all to a 8.5-10 bolt chevy rearend!! We will see how long this beast will hold up......

This is the bed before we got ahold of it again

Oh Yeah and the new rim choice! Im having problems finding a nice sporty front runner tire that will be 28" tall fit on a 15" rim and have around 8-9" Section width!! Any suggestions would be great

Looks good man, I've been seriously cosidering tubing my truck. You could run a 205/75R15 front tire I run the Hankook Optimo 724 on a 6" wide rim, mounted it's about 8.3" wide.

Super cool. I considered tubing my truck but last thing I need is another project and have plenty(1/2" or so) of clearance event layed out.

You are another brave soul putting all the work into the 10 bolt. Hope it holds up for you.

This is a perfect example of never being done because your truck sure does look bad *** as it sits!

Haha thanks man, im in the market to make this 10 bolt work and bullet proof as possible, whatever it takes!! I personally say Screw a 9" just cause its ford, but we all know they are good rearends and very easy to change chunks out and blah blah.......But im sticking with chevy stuff and will try to get the job done, if it wont do it id goto a dana 60 before a 9". I should be putting down some pretty decent power by the time i get done with this truck so we will find out soon enough if the old ring gear will hold up!!
