Interestingly in that 7 year Texas stretch I guess the owner was using this truck for work or had multiple properties because it was getting an oil change every 10k miles and 4 months in Missouri and once in Ohio. Anyways I am sure that is where it comes from, salt and **** just got up in between the fender liner and the wheel well and ate it away.
I see.

So what would be the plan here? Bondo and paint? Or sheet metal/weld repair? I repainted a fender and hood before. Very light Bondo on dings. Sealer, base and clear. No rust though. Not showroom stuff, but good enough for a daily driver. A little orange peel, but honestly, not bad.

That area is covered by the stock fender flares, right?

Load it up with fluid film and hope for the best.

I live in a tough spot for keeping a nice vehicle. All we can do it try and keep it at bay as long as we can.

Yeah probably what wretched said for now. I do plan on getting a quote to see about cutting the cancer out the bedside and getting the rockers done. Personally if I can get this remedied sooner rather than later I would be happy. I don't need a show room finish obviously but I would like it to look decent. Yes the area is completely covered by the flares.

Saying that though, if it is just some obscene cost to get it all done and done properly I will skip it for now. You can't see any of it and it has zero effect on the truck's integrity or the like. I may choose to get one side of rockers redone and then the other side later etc. etc. We will see, like I said I am still loving the truck and would love to keep it for as long as possible.

I had rockers and cab corners done for a reasonable price, I think I spent $2k.

Its usually cheaper to get as much done at once as you can. They're already doing all of the prep, which is where most of the cost comes from.

That’s the price I figured I was looking at. I had some cash put away for a 4-link but would much rather spend it on something that actually needs to be done for sure. Not bad, maybe they’ll buff out some of the smaller scratches for me on the bed so I don’t have to lol

That would be bad *** too. I’d love to have a rear slider or a sun roof in one of my trucks, Titan window or try and get a factory roof.

My 06 Suburban has a sun roof. I really never use it though.

For the last few years we've been going to the Grand Prairie drive-tru Christmas light show. We load up everyone on the Suburban because they charge like 3X full size passenger vans :-(

The kids open the sun roof and pop up through. We are only going like 1-2 mph. The first year we went it was not too comfortable because of the console. Last year I removed the console for a jumpseat and it's better for them.
