Thanks for the sig comments. If you wanted to fit an Allison you'd only need a 1.5 inch body lift to make it fit. Why are HDs taller with more exposed frame? Cause they come from the factory body lifted 1.5 inches to get the Allison to fit. I put the 1.5 lift in mine and it's barely noticeable. All that being said don't put an Allison behind a 5.3. Waaaaay too much loss. Don't fear the gearing in a 4L80. If you get the Hummer H2 semi floater 14 bolt they come with 4.10s and with a 2400-2800 rpm converter if you have a Trucool MAX cooler, you can still have great performance and be able to tow well. Also with you have a turbo as long as it's properly size it can really grunt hard against the taller 1st gear in the 4L80e.

Pic is my burb with a 1.5 body lift, stock keys cranked 2.5 inches and 1.5 rear spring spacers.

People who want to live by the 60e are like guys who love imports. They are always prove themselves wrong after a little while.

The rock obviously wasn't heavy enough...... You managed to crawl back out from under it.

Same. I threw everything and the kitchen sink into my 60. That being said I only make 336 rwhp and run a 4.88 gear. Put a lot of miles on it and I feel like it's at a safe limit. However, it is a limit.

Im only pushing 345rwhp and have no plans on more than somewhere between 400 and 450rwhp, so next trans will be an 80 but gonna run a 60 for the meantime

Your sub is seriously sexy man. Did you do the body lift for the tougher looks or functionality?

Thanks for the thoughts. I am going to go drool over your rig for a few more mins.

You have done pretty much what I want to do look wise.

Alright, tranny issiue is settled, I am going to get a 4l80e.

Next up is cam, gears, converter and turbo discussion.

I will tow with this truck, normally towing will be 4-9k sometimes up to 12k. It will also be my daily. I live in the mountains of the NW. I am planning on swapping in 3/4 ton axles front and rear.

I do still want decent fuel economy on the HWY which is why I chose to turbo the 5.3 over the 6.0, so that is a concern on gearing. Tires will not ever be over 33" and will probably stay 265/70 for a while. Truck has 3.73's now.

The cam I want to work well with kb or ricks turbo kit, have a decent lope, and great low end behind a turbo.

Converter- I want something TIGHT, I don't care as much about stall as long as it is tight helping with the first gear of the 80e in the mountains. Think snow and stoplights and grades.

So, let the opinions fly.

Cam
Gears
Converter
turbo of choice

btw I am shooting for 5-600whp once I get it dialed in and will be running 91 and possibly water meth for towing
