You ahve to blend her across the entire panel even if just one little section was painted otherwise it will eventually chip. Spraying clear across the whole tailgate makes it one unit again and start chipping later on.

yea as for sanding the upper part just some maroon scotch pad will work just even and don't use fingers really hard.... then just tack wipe and clean and shoot like normal! looking good also! I like the roll pans with hitches.....still functional!

Thanks for input and kind comments guys.

Now to the part that I am the most uncomfortable about. The filler. Doing one side at a time. The passenger side for what ever reason is the worst. I know I had it fit better than it turned out after I welded it. The pan is sitting to low here and will require the most work. You can see the low section in this first photo. Went back in with some 80 grit to scratch it real good before adding the filler.

While I let this harden up went ahead and put the license plate bolts in. All stainless and had to trim them all. Too long.

Only so much I can take of this at a time. It's been 20 years since I've sanded any filler. Seems to sand much easier now. Any tips from anybody on how to gauge a good filler level here I'd be most appreciative.

Sanding palm type block. Cross sanding at 45*. Yeah I will guide coat it when I get closer.
