Default Project Rescue!

I picked up a 1993 K1500 that had sat in a friend's yard for nearly two years after he bought a new pickup. It has a manual tranny and a 350 under the hood. The body is in really good condition, interior pretty good with no holes or tears anywhere. Engine runs but it's missing the muffler and tailpipe. The bad news is that the frame is rusted behind the cab at the gas tank and the 10 bolt's tubes are rusted at the u-bolts.

I hope to have the back half cut off this weekend. I used a plumb line to mark off critical points on the garage floor. I used concrete nails so that the marks won't go away.

My son gave me a 14 bolt full float with 3.73 gears that looks good. I'll have to swap the gears up front to match.

I'd love to do a 4 link but haven't committed to it just yet.

Here is a shot the day I picked it up

And here is the rust through the frame rail

Here I just started marking the floor with concrete nails and paint using a plumb bob.

Looks to be an interesting build. Crazy how bad that frame is rusted out.

Yeah, and there isn't a bit of rust on the body or bed.
