Default Project "progress"

So I believe it's been exactly 2 years since the 4.8 to 6.0 swap now. I did make some initial progress by first adding headers, then 4.10s and a TruTrac differential, but I later removed the headers and went back to stock, mainly for $$$ reasons. I should also add that PRC heads were added due to a header bolt breaking off in the driver's head. So anyways, for the most part the truck has been extremely stagnant and should I say very BORING to drive. I did manage to run a best of 14.06@96.6 last March on the Toyo 285/60s.

Silver-mod-o (Ben) has been kind enough to put me up and we're gonna go to work on this thing next weekend if all goes well.

Here's what I've got planned:

stock 2004 4l80e
Yank PT3600 258mm converter
EPS 222/226 113 cam
ARH 1 7/8" w/ catless 3" Y, stock catback
pac 1518 springs
delphi 42lb injectors
LC-1 wideband, tuning by yours truly (oh boy)

Here's the GMracer 4l80e crossmember. He did a nice job and thanks to him for delivering it in a timely manner.

Those are all the pictures I have now, the trans isn't really anything to look at, and the truck is a mess right now due to the weather and all the damage it's sustained (parking lot hit and runs) over the years. I suspect these round of mods will be the last in a while for power, and I'll start focusing on the aesthetics of the truck. Things like new wheels, getting the dents fixed, a new front and rear bumper, etc.

The goal for this whole setup is to run 12s, and to be perfectly honest I'll be pretty upset if it does not. Ben is pretty sure that the 80e is really going to bog things down, but the way I see it, if the truck already went 14.0, the addition of a cam and stall should drop it another second, even with the parasitic loss of the 80. The only one on here I'm aware of that ran the 80e N/A was Pewter53, who took a stock cam, stock heads, bolt-on LQ4, and 4000 stall to 13.02 in a reg cab. So anyways, let's just see what happens.

Good looking cross member. I didn't add the braces to mine but not so far back either. So far so good.

Other odds and ends of the install will include Patriot 7.4" pushrods, neapco 4l80e yoke, 2500 suburban rear trans cooler pipe, and 4l60e to 4l80e wiring harness adapter and front VSS sensor and wiring by Frost. Oh I forgot also gonna try and get some 2" rear drop shackles installed as well.

Everything looks good, except the tuner is kinda "iffy" JFWY. But seriously, your driving all the way down south to do all this?

Why are you getting an 80e? Is your 60 going out? It will slow you down allot because the first gear is much higher. I understand you want a stout trans but if there isn't any problems with your currant trans i wouldn't change it out.

The power you add with the headers will be negated by the 80es weight and gear ratio. Then you might be up a little bit with your other mods. Just trying to say if you are going for performance gains only the trans is going to set you back.

I am fully aware of the increased parasitic power loss from the 80. And actually, as others who have done the swap have stated, the taller first gear may actually be more pleasant on the street as first gear may be useable then. As it is now with the 60 and 4.10s, WOT on the street in 1st even with the stock converter just ends up spinning.
