2 1/2 hours later my old muffler is good to go. I cleaned, cut, sanded, ground, blended it back into shape.
A while back I had one of the hanger brackets welded to the side of the case(pretty common), anyway it broke off and left a weird looking hole in he shape of an "L". We used some solid round bar to fill it up and MIG'd back together. While functionally the muffler is/was fine it looked like crap.
I was hoping to buy a replacement but as I found out they don't exist; long story short, and it ain't perfect, but, it's now relatively smooth and even and ready to be used again....overall I'm pretty pleased with it.....pics to follow:

P.S. I should have listened to BC weeks ago LOL
