Got all the parts out of storage, of course forgot a few things, gotta find where i put the 1 plug style connector for the PRNDL switch (thanks again Roger), and hope the new converter bolts i ordered get here tomorrow.

The converter is a rebuilt GM high stall (loose 2500) from road runner converter.

So far looks really straight forward, the shift lever mechanism can be mounted, but there is no way to mount the brake interlock solenoid, the little ball that allows it you pivot and release the holding rod is not there on my column, and the parts puller at the junk yard i go the part broke the ignition lock cable (it keeps it from being shifted with the key off). Both of those things are a pain but i like the brake solenoid in case someone else is driving...if it got knocked into reverse or something but i also have a shifter from a 97 z28 so i can use the full console and just have a floor style shifter.

Im going to get the 5 speed, clutch master, and clutch pedal out tomorrow first thing. Then see about getting the pilot bearing out, i got a new tool (my pilot puller is missing ) it uses grease pressure to force the bearing out...in theory i see how it can work but we shall see if it actually does. Then i think i will do some easy stuff while there is a huge hole underneath
1. Patch the HUGE hole from the shifter
2. Get the cooler mounted back up and the lines ran and clamped nicely out of the way.
Probably finish up the day getting the shifter cable stuff ran and get the 80e ready to put in (just check all the bolts and change the fittings from the GM style clip to AN.

Wish me luck.

I am actually more nervous about this swap then compared to the v6 to v8 swap.

I am staying really opened minded...the shifter stuff is already bumming me out...i wanted it to be all factory...but i guess this is expected.

Hell i still cant figure out the cruise control nonsense...damn me and my "lets get an electronic pedal" idea.

Got a late start this morning. Didnt even get to the shop until 11:15.

Pressure plate and clutch still look good...so all along it was the slave cylinder going to **** i had ALOT of clutch material left, and to my surprise there was very little signs of heat scaring.

I have to wait on a tool to get here to pull the pilot bearing unless i can figure out something else when i go back to the shop tonight (avoiding the heat)

Also have to figure out what im going to do with the fittings, the 2 i have now to convert to AN lines only 1 will work, the o ring (picture 2) is to large to fit into the case and seal.

Another neat thing i found out...the 5 speed yoke is a match for the 4l80e.

Had more pictures...but when i copied them from phone to computer they disappeared so oh well.

Going shooting in the AM, but hope to get the cooler mounted and lines ran at the very least, then start putting in the little **** (sensors and dipstick tube) pretty much everything outside first, then figure out the console/ shifter idea, or just put in the shift lever and not worry about the no brake solenoid and no key off lock.
