Hey guys,

I just picked up an 07 RCSB w/ a 5.3 and I have no idea where to start as far as modding this thing goes. I had a 2002 SS that ended up h/c/i/n2o before the motor finally went and along the way i decided a needed a truck for work and finally picked one up.

Street manners dont bother me much. I tow 2 jetskis a few times a year but mainly this is for hauling around light loads ( <100lbs) and having fun.

Do I stay N/A, go procharged, get maggied, go turbo??

I dont really mind bad street manners, I dd'ed the camaro with a TREX cam from thunder 24x/24x high .5XX/.5XX 110 so its not to big of a deal.

Based on your experiences what do you recommend?

:edit: 8ish thousand budget for motor/supporting mod work

Honestly with 8K to work with, you could go any of those routes and have one hell of a fun time. Im going to be different on this one and say go all out N/A LSX block as big as you can and have a big cam. Not a fan of N20 since your paying over and over and over again for power that is only temporary. 8K into a turbo/procharger/maggie will only get you so far. Ill be close to that when all said and done with my turbo build and I highly doubt it will be as powerfull if you were to go with a large cube LSX block and cam.

I really would rather keep the 5.3, i do not have the room to build/swap motors and I would like to try and keep this a project I can do myself

im going to say turbo all the way. with the kits available on here ( KB racing etc.) you can get a nice setup, and have plenty left over for supporting mods.
you get the most bang for the buck imo

As long as your motor is still in good shape, I would just add a turbo kit and supporting mods. You will have one hell of a truck and be with in budget. I have $6000 in my 408 stroker alone, not including my built trans and rear and all the other good stuff. Just look around and do some research, then decide what you think your money will be best spent on. Good luck!

There are guys on here who are putting stock motors into the 10's with just a shift kit and a turbo surprisingly enough. I would just add a turbo, shift kit, converter and supporting fuel system mods and call it good. You can go pretty far with just that if your tune is good. And you'll probably come under your $8K budget.

In that case turbo all the way.

Between the turbo stuff, efans, rear end, fuel system, trans, gauges, and other misc. stuff you should be able to come in a little under your budget. It helps if you can find stuff for sale on here as well.
