Fab some longer ramps for that trailer while your at it.

What clutch are you going with for T56? I didn't think EC came with 5spds.

well heres the pics as promised...

loaded up on the trailer at the truck stop...it was about a 4 hour ride to my buddies shop...of course it had to rain on the way down and my truck got filthy

once in the shop we decieded to take the bed off 1st seeing i need to do my fuel pump and rear gears so we used 4 chains and an overhead hoist...here it is off my truck

truck with all 4 tires off and bed removed...ready for work

well after getting the exhaust, drive shafts outta the way, it was time to start with the trans...After a little wrestling match we realized that there wasn't enough room to drop the trans and t-case as one piece. The torsion bar cross member was in the way. We opted to split off the t-case instead of removing the torsion bar cross member. Drop the t-case and tranny followed soon after...

heres a pic of the old clutch on the motor...

pressure plate and disk removed...pretty darn tired if ya ask me...

heres the flywheel...

the pilot bearing was joke, the bearing was worn oblong and toasted...once it was removed I proceeded to put the new LS7 clutch in...

the front end is totally done, so my truck is now a 2wd...next was the rear end...after removing the cover...i was pretty suprised to find this on the magnet

you can see the spiders were no good...

this is right where we are at the moment...tomorrows adgenda is to get the trans in and sitting on the cross member, finish the rear end and put in the walbro fuel pump...

Update...

Fuel Pump:

After removing the pump from the tank SBChvy disassembled the assembly. The stock bucket needs modification for the walbro to properly function. The walbro has a slightly larger inlet; therefore, the stock orfice must be bored. A 15/16 drill bit did the trick. Also the stock pump rests atop a pedestall which must be trimmed so the wlabro will rest on the floor of the bucket. An air dremel with a small ball bit worked great for this. After that is completed the pump is dropped in and the new pick-up sock is installed to the end of the inlet. Two holes must also be drilled in the side of the bucket in to allow mounting of the new pump...via zip-tie He trimmed the stock fuel pump pigtail form the harness and soldered the new pigatil in its place. Hook up the fuel line, harness, and re-assemble the the fuel pump/sendingunit/bucket assembly. Sounds easy but it took quite some time fitting and checking everthing over...overall pretty straight forward:

Rear End:

Installed the 4.88 gears, we set the backlash to .008 and also checked the preload and marked the gear mesh/tooth pattern. I had to clearance one of the teeth on the ring gear in order to install the carrier pin for the spider assembly. Didn't want to do it but there was just no other way around it...only minor clearancing was required on the inner most portion of the gear and would never meet the pinion gears' travel anyway. Otherwise stragiht forward..only other snag was I had to weld a nut onto the fill plug in order to remove it.

new pinion gear

ring gear and carrier ready to be installed

Also installed the new F-Body slave cylinder and my truck hydraulic line to it. Mated it all to the M12.

Cut the hole for the new shifter...and she waiting to go in this week...still new a starter, new trans mount, and need to fab up a carrier bearing mount.
