shouldve got a set of gears to go in when u got the rear end rebuilt haha do you have posi or a locker btw? I put 4.10s in mine and made the stupid mistake of not putting a locker but i just could not justify spending 450$ for a locker. I bet it would help at the track but having an open diff isnt too bad on a street truck just gotta know how to play with the gas right and have a really good set of tires on the back

When I blew the dif and tranny I went with the most cost effective thing and I found a rear end with 20,000 miles and 3.42 gears for $100 with axles so I just swapped that in and transmission shop rebuilt the tranny. I wanted a locker but I was 17 and broke Haha

The gears really help more at the track tho were it's sticky and u can hook even with 4.10s and just the bolt ons I got I spin on any first gear roll up to 30mph it's super hard to hook on the street if ur not running it at the track and it's just a street truck 3.42s are a great gear for gas mileage and driving and they pull decently too

Don't bother with a small cam like that. Save your money for a converter like circle D or an FTI. I finally got my 220/224 trick flow cam in and with my FTI converter it's really fun. My friend has a tsp 220 and circle D 3200 and man that's a perfect combo, even in a crew cab.

Idk a lot of people talk about cams and stalls but without quarter mile times or something I don't really know because I know a lot of people who put way too big of a cam in their truck, a truck is heavy too much cam kills the bottom end I run my truck at the track all the time and I got videos of beating other 5.3s with huge cams but stock gears and by the time they start pulling im already gone

212 218 really isn't that small of a cam in a 5.3, a 5.3 is only like 325ci lol and the stock cam is like 191/193 duration or something around there so yea, all I'm saying is if it's a street truck u don't wanna kill the bottom end torque and drive ability where it only pulls 3 grand and up

Can't argue with that, my cammed killed bottom end and is all at 3k+ but I got use to the converter stalling around 3k so I'm ok with it. I'm sure a comp 212/218 would be an ok daily cam.
