Default My "Built by ME" 4L80E and drivetrain upgrade thread

Well after i broke my "built" 60 in Oct/Nov, i decided enough with the 60e, and decided to swap to a 80. I may not need it now, but i have some plans for the next year

I want to thank my fellow mods who helped me out. Bill for letting me borrow the Kent Moore tools and Tranny stand. Ben for convincing me to build it. And most importantly Vince B for all the help along the way. I could not have done it without your help, Thanks again Vince!

So i started with a 2001 4L80 out of a dually. I wanted a 99-2001(early), but my luck i ended up with the 2001 late. It had roughly 100k on it and the insides look pretty good, nothing was trashed, Clutches looked good, but it was just insanely dirty on the inside... So i replaced EVERYTHING!!!

Here is the build sheet:

4L80 master rebuild kit
Internally dual fed
1/2 Transgo HD-2 kit (basically springs only, Transgo Seperator plate still in the box along with the pressure relief crap)
Borg-Warner clutches
Raybestos steels
All new sprangs (Low Clutch, Overdrive, and Intermediate)
New Bonded Pistons
ALL new bushings (except the center support, screw that one!)
ALL new bearings
Rollerized rear case
Rollerized Forward Hub
Billet Foward Hub
Torlon Check *****
Sonnax Self Regulating Boost Valve
Sonnax Torque Converter Clutch Regulator Valve
Sonnax Line-to-Lube Pressure Regulator Valve Kit
Carbon Fiber Reverse Band
Borg Warner 2nd gear Band (Carbon Fiber one fit like crap)
All new solenoids, Manifold Pressure switch, and new internal harness.

New CircleD flexplate
New CircleD 3C 3600 single disc

A few other odds and ends Vince suggested

Just incase anyone was wondering there have been a few other build threads like this, check them out

If anyone wants some pics, you can check out my Photobucket, there is ~300 of them! Taking pics as i took it apart really helped with reassembly...

So whats next?

I am going to order a new Driveshaft & front yoke with front and rear 1350 joints and a new pinion yoke.

Then i have to redo my gears

Then i am gonna work on the suspension... Shock relocate and either Caltracs or Assassin bars.

Hopefully i should have the Tranny installed by the end of Feb/Mar...

Thanks Bill and just so you know all your tools are safe and sound! I might suggest getting a smaller bolt for the spring compressor, it is one long winded bastard. Thanks again for your help!
