In all honesty, anything with an F-series blower needs a key. The pinning kit may work, but if it doesn't the balancer and crank will be ruined.

FWIW, I had the crank keyed on my 346 with the d1sc. You'll probably never see me pin a crank. Especially if the motor is apart.

do you know who could do it..?? i am going to have to take out the crank anyways since i need to change out the reluctor wheel. So thatll be a good time to key it. Btw whats the difference between the key and pin..??

Its actually called a woodruff key. The key itself is a square bar stock. A square slot is cut in the crank, key gets put in, the balancer gets a square slot cut into the bore. The key is half in the crank and half in the balancer. Best way I can describe it. An engine machine shop should be able to help you out. Nice thing about ls motors is that it doesn't have to be indexed.

The biggest difference, is that a keyway goes all the way through the balancer (which makes R&R much easier), while the pin only goes part-way through. The square shape of the woodruff key, along with the added length, give it more surface area, which makes it stronger.

I sure hope that makes sense when I read it tomorrow.
