The part number is in the picture, d3579 I think, I bought it here http://store.alternatorparts.com/ I called the guy to ask him a couple questions first and he was very helpful. Has a youtube channel with a lot of good videos, alternatorman I think.
Also inspected the coilover stuff and everything looks great after ~2200 miles. |

Great update!
I need to check my alternator. I thought I had the higher output one, but should make sure. |
3 Attachment(s)
I think I finally got everything back together except for a new fender liner I ordered, but that should only take a minute to put on
Lot going on in there... Attachment 101199 Attachment 101200 Attachment 101201 Its amazing how much time ive spent trying to clean things up only for it to look crowded as hell when I finish...oh well...might make some noise tomorrow! |
Looking good! Can't wait to see this in person so I can study it better. Its hard to appreciate it all on my little phone screen. Let me know when you head to the track, if you remember.

Well good news and bad news. It started right up first try and idled for about 20 minutes no problem. I let it idle for that long to burn off that toxic cloud the new wrap and spray make. The new alternator works great! Voltage stays right at 14+ even with the fans on high at idle. Transitions from park to reverse and drive are also much smoother and dont dip anymore. Very good upgrade. The good thing is the stator is easily upgradeable to the 200amp version if I want to do that myself.
Bad news is I didnt check hood clearance with the turbo feed line that high up, so now the hood wont close. I have shorter pipes I can use, I just like it up high like that so its easy to get to. Also have a couple small exhaust leaks I need to fix. I will be out of town starting tomorrow for a week so wont get to work on it. At least I know it runs! |
