Thanks, I'm trying very hard to leave the Silverado alone, but I keep eyeballing these: Texas Speed Headers

So here's where I am at now. I did the valve seals to help aid with the heavy smoking. I found a few of them not seated on the stems properly, so that was likely why it had so much of a problem.

Now that I have completed that, it does still burn a little oil and smoke some. A quick powerbrake video kind of exhibits when I see it. It's not terrible, but not great.

Here's the video:

So I did valve seals. It got better, but not fixed.

Then I found this...

So the solution...

So nothing good in terms of news. I thought I was chasing a valvetrain noise issue all this time. A flawlessly clean oil filter had me convinced that it was a lifter.

Yesterday after doing a final hot valve adjustment, I put the truck up on the lift and ran it. Up top it is very quiet at idle and most of the noise is part throttle.

BUT...

Under the truck the noise is prominent at idle too, definitely looks like I've been dumping a bunch of time and money into a motor that was never any good. I wish I lived on the east coast, I'd take it back to the "rebuilder" lol.

So at this point I'm not sure what I want to do. This is alot more than I signed up for.

Played around today, buttoned up the interior and took a clear days chance to drive some and get a touch of datalogging. Traffic was kinda shitty, need to go find some open roads tomorrow.

Took the Syclone to the track for a shakedown. It needs some stuff, like a healthy fuel pump and a tq converter, but I managed a 12.01 @ 113mph.

Few things to fix, but it's a good start!
