Default GMC Syclone #569 Build

I guess I"ll go ahead and start a thread, even though I haven't even received the truck yet from shipping.

So I just bought this 91 Syclone with 136k on the odo and a handful of goodies already done.

Already done:
RPM Front coilover conversion
PTE52 Turbo
air to air intercooler
f-body rear disc conversion
hydroboost
Moates Ostrich

My plan is to run through all of the maintenance items, tune on e85 and have some fun at the track. A few upgrades along the way.

It should arrive next week and I'll start posting and doing some stuff soon!

So I don't have the truck yet, its on the transporter, but I started buying some essentials to be ready for its arrival.

The purpose of this truck is going to be my weekend toy/drag racing. I plan to run it on the current software (I believe it to be Code 59) and the stock engine/trans for at least a season. After that, transmission upgrades, head and cam upgrades. If I get tired of that or blow something up, I'll go turbo v8.

Here was yesterday's shopping list.

i sold it to someone in OH and think he sold it but dont know where it went..

Looks like it has a ty steering wheel not sy (which is a plus imo) hydroboost and vortec heads. should be pretty quick on e85 tuned right, good luck with your build

Haha, yeah that does look exactly the same! I might go back to a2w though, we've had really good luck with it on my buddies Ty with an icebox. The guy I bought it from says he's moved around like 8 times since he bought it, so it could be him. He's in Michigan and Illinois before that.

It is a Ty wheel and door panels, owner before the guy I got it from did all Typhoon panels, seats and wheel. The current owner put Typhoon seats back in it.

We've got my buddies Ty down to 12.3 on the stock everything with an icebox and e85 tune and just got done installing the Dominator setup. It feels more potent than the TT chip did, but we're out of racing season over here. Hoping to have that one in the 11's before we upgrade turbos.

So I took some time today to look at the truck and figure out what it needs.

I think I'll make my list here. I should write it on a big chunk of cardboard Roadkill style.

Today I did all the brakes but my front right is still sticking and I now think it's because of the softline. I'll sort that out and get it dealt with.

ALMOST DONE - 1. Finish brakes, replace soft lines and bleed
2. Replace locked up viscous coupler
3. Remove AC heater box, replace with AC delete heater box
4. Install Sparco wheel
5. Install MSD ignition + wire 2-step
6. Install cap/rotor, plugs/wiires
7. Purchase and install larger injectors
8. Engine bay cleanup, remove unwanted wiring
9. Loose bolt on turbo flange
10. Clack noise sounds like loose rocker arm
11. Transmission cooler line has a leak
12. Install Fluidampr balancer and Moroso pointer
13. Repair front fender cladding
14. Repair bed rust
15. Paint hood
16. Replace missing fog light (or both)
17. Weight reduction mission
18. License and Register
19. Wheels and tires??
20. Remove stickers and install oe decals
DONE - 21. Raise front coilovers, repair spherical joint in one coilover.
22. No vacuum line on BOV
23. Fresh fluids throughout
24. Go HARD on the e85 tuning
25. Install torque converter lockup switch

I got it up in the air yesterday and found a few nice surprises, one through documentation. I didn't know it was going to have these things.

2800 stall converter (stock is 2200)
B&M extra deep trans pan
Summit rear diff cover with preload screws
Rear swaybar

So here's the brake work. Don't be too impressed with the new front calipers, they're just a direct replacement.

The rear ebrake junk was all seized up so it came out and the rotors were pretty grooved. The rear is F-Body from an 02 camaro.

The front I had a seized p/s caliper, and I still need to get the soft lines for them replaced. The brake pad in the photos are from that corner. They needed help.
