No, not even close to free air. To be free air, there would be a zero net compression. The subs are 15's. You are correct on the 6" ports, but they are not even 15" long. No where near enough volume to negate the boxes 8.5cuft gross volume(after port displacment). To be free air you would have to have a port volume larger than enclosure volume (obviously not possibel), even then you end up in an IB siuation which is still not free air.

Is this mostly for bass comp or just beating around town?

Got to do a little more today. Got the second layer of the base down. Next step is to get the mounting rings positioned and set. This is way more slow going than I hoped. Out of town this weekend, maby I can get more done during the week.

Looks like a fun build. I had two 10" Rockford Fosgate's in a sealed box. I ended up swapping to two 10" Pioneer Champions in a ported box and it was night and day difference.

I'm not a fan of ported enclosures. They usually don jive with my style of music, and I usually can't afford the space the demand.

I made some progress!

I got the 2 pieces of the "clamshell" rough sanded.

Then the top decided it no longer wanted to be a part of the project!

Got the skeleton put together.

Plan for today it's to get it top coated and wrapped.
