Forged 370 coming together.

Just wanted to post up a few pics of my build. Seems like there are a few of us building 370's on here so I'd thought I'd join the crowd and post up. Still have a few loose ends to tie up but it's coming together. It's getting there thanks to the help of a few people you might recognize from Grippy's build-up. Same master builder(Rex), same shop(WCCH), same mad scientist who put it together (Richard who stays behind the scenes) and similar pictures.

It's more of a sponsor build than anything:):
WCCH 245cc Edelbrock Heads
FLT 4L80E LVL-5
STS GT-76
ABEAR Motorsports VC's
StylinConcept's BP's

http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i1...n/IMG_0187.jpghttp://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i1...k/IMG_0201.jpg
The SLUT finally got his hands on it...Some people just don't know how to respect other people's property...WHACK it again REX!!

Master Builder building masterfully
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i1...n/IMG_0172.jpghttp://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i1...k/IMG_0183.jpg
Crank, piston, rings, and a few Rods.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i1...n/IMG_0173.jpghttp://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i1...k/IMG_0172.jpg
My Rods are on the far right. Left is stock(bent) Middle is Probe 4340 forged I-beams(Same as Grippy's). I'm gonna need a little extra beef for what I have planned.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i1...n/IMG_0168.jpghttp://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i1...k/IMG_0173.jpg
Lined up and ready for their new home.

It's giving me blueballz just looking at it.:nutkick: Still have a few things to finish up.

moregrip 03-18-2007 10:34 AM

glad to see you have Rex building your engine, he is Awesome! His knowledge and attention to detail is second to none!
I see he bought a new T-Shirt as well, LOL, good on ya Rex!

Did you go with the Ackerly & Childs Rings spec'd by Rex? Melling Oil Pump with the "bad ass" spring in there?

ZR1 DREAMING 03-18-2007 10:41 AM

Looks purdy so far! Any man who builds engines while drinking Mt. Dew is a pro :judge: :chug:

Good deal bro, I expect no less than the best from you! How's your Monster Truck motor coming along?
Unfortunately I'll be out to Sea again next week :bang: when it rains it pours :chug:

224/230 .050" of valve lift on each. I'll get all the specs out soon. Rex and I were going over it but I didn't grab the sheet he gave me.

Richard (aka the Brains) and Rex said the stock crank will hold up fine so we stayed with it.
Final compression is 8.8:1
I'm gonna be running a high boost appplication. I'm shooting for 20lbs-22lbs. I have to play around with my A/R housing first to see what works best. I have a pretty small one in there now.

nightrunner 03-18-2007 04:54 PM

whoa! 20lbs.,:eek2: have you thought about the head lifting problem, you are studding your heads right

i was contemplating doing my own mild 370

Spoolin 03-18-2007 04:57 PM

Yup that was one of my bigger concerns and I figure the best head guy in the biz would know the best way to keep them down. There's no guarante but I think Richard glued those heads on there best he can. If that doesn't hold...I dunno we'll see!:)

nightrunner 03-18-2007 04:59 PM

id trust him:thumb:

I figured why go mild when I can go wild? Rex overbuilt the engine to take as much abuse as I could throw at it.

I'm pretty excited about your set up as well. Your thread and Grippy's were awesome to read and learn from. When they are all done it would be nice to compare dyno charts with all the FI 370's out there...Yours, Grippy's, dhpro should all be pretty similar! Not sure where mine's gonna fall just yet.

BlackGMC 03-20-2007 04:02 PM

What TB is that?

Spoolin 03-20-2007 04:06 PM

90mm TB

BlackGMC 03-20-2007 04:07 PM

Is there an adapter inbetween the TB and intake?

Spoolin 03-20-2007 04:15 PM

I believe it's a billet 90mm Throttle body conversion kit for the 2002-2005 Chevy and GMC trucks and SUV's made by WCCH. The kit replaces the factory installed 75mm throttle body with the later LS2 style 90mm throttle body set-up.

TurboBerserker 03-20-2007 07:03 PM

TB's on backwards! :) The plug is on the other side.

Looks a lot like my motor...

http://www.scifilogy.com/sss/intakebling/intake_frt.jpg

And yes, there is a WCCH adaptor plate between the TB and intake.

jetmann 03-20-2007 09:18 PM

THats what I said!

I know it is,But someone told me to put it on that way. Ill never hear the end of this! :hail:

Is the 90mm a better choice for a 370 than the edelbrock 4bbrl TB. Sorry to get off topic, but I am thinking about build a 370 for another project.

This has been done with spectacular results. The Edlbrock 4bbl ttb has much better flow than the 90mm ttbs. Too bad it only will adapt to cable operated trucks mostly '99-'02 model years. You can call me if you want to learn more about this setup.

Richard :)

Spoolin 03-21-2007 11:24 PM

Found out a few more specs so here they are:

Pistons: Probe Turbo Pistons
Comp Cam : 236/230 115LSA
Rings: Hellfire
Rods: RPM Extreme Duty
90mmTTB Billet Adapter
90mm TB
MLS Head Gasket
ARP Studs and Bolts throughout
High Rev Roller lifters

That is all for now...Carry on :)

Spoolin 05-06-2007 01:49 PM

Thought I would post some pics up of the Valve Covers. They look awesome and Ryan from Abear is a pleasure to work with and worked with me even though at times I'm sure like I seemed like an obnoxious customer!! His work speaks for itself.:hail:

If only that were true I'm sure that would make your day. You've had your eye on me from day one...put some ice on your crotch and go back to watching 9 yr old boy porn in your office. I haven't said anything about what you were doing the last time I came by your shop...door closed, all phones on busy, and that guilty look when you finally came down with that sticky handshake.:suspiciou
