Default broken flex plate/ cracked bell housing

I have a 97 chev suburban with a 6.5 turbo deisel, 2 years ago the flex plate broke and cracked the bell housing. At the time the budget only allowed putting in a low mile used trans. The same thing has happened again. I'm looking for some advise to make sure this doesn't happen again so soon.

id check all the bushings/mounts and replace them as it probably is worn out causing the engine to move around more than it should
