97 Suburaban 5.3L LM7 swap
#1
Hello my name is Dustin. I am starting my DD project. I am not doing any kind of performance to it unless it is needed for towing or gets me better fuel economy.
I have been working with S&P for the swap parts. If there is any other places that may have the parts cheaper let me know. Currently I have a 5.3L LM7 from a 2004 Yukon with 40k miles. I am wanting to keep away from the DBW for a simpler swap and less parts needed.
Today I will be going to get the engine from my house and taking it to my shop. I will get started on getting a list together, so that I can start ordering the parts this weekend. I am trying to get it done before the weather gets to bad.
I hope to have this swap complete in a couple of weeks. So any advice to make it go smoother or for a faster outcome please let me know. This will be my first LS swap, not my first engine swap though.
Thanks in advance.

Well I haven't had time to upload my pictures, but I can give a small update.
I got the engine pulled and it was a mess. I found pieces of the stock 5.7 everywhere. The transmission case was broken and I will have to get it welded.
I purchased some of the odds and ends that I needed. I started to clean the engine up and got the heads bolted down. Just used stock GM parts.
I will continue to take pictures along the way. I will try to find the time to upload the pictures. It will be a large update.
Stay tuned.

Ok well I'm not sure on what to do about this transmission. The transmission was broken where the transfer case bolted to. When I pulled the transfer case off the piece just fell off. I'm not sure if I will be able to weld it due to the inside surface.
Any ideas?

Bama what did you have to keep from the 5.7 harness? im assuming you went with a stand alone from nelson? i am doing the 5.3 swap in my 98 C1500. I got the PSI stand alone. i was just wondering what wires have to be kept from the stock harness. because ive seen some people keep the entire 5.7 computer. and others not
