93 full size blazer project
#1
Hey yall,
I have had a 93 full size blazer buried in my parents garage since high school. almost a decade. I joined the military two years after high school and I have not had the time or place to work on it. My parents are ready to get it out of their garage and honestly.... i have been wanting to fix it up lately but i was in the middle of another project. My current project is almost done so I will have some free time to work on the blazer. I am not quite sure what I want to do with it now. All I know is that it is a 1993 Chevy Blazer 4x4 with the 5.7 in it. It has not ran in years and IIRC the transmission was having problems before she was put away. I am open to advice on cheap ways to either do an engine swap or get it back up and running. I have no idea what the first thing I should do is.... clean fuel system, drain all liquids and replace, jump right in and see if it turns over (it most likely wont).
My sister drove it for a year or two after I got another ride and she wasn't too kind to her. Crash her a few times, cigarette holes and stains in the upholstery. Last time i was home my dad, little brother and I dug her out to assess the damage. I was only home for a few days for pre-deployment leave so I did not spend all my time digging for what was wrong.... rather than looking at what was still salvageable... which was not much.
I am leaning towards lifting the truck and getting the four wheel drive back in good working order. (missing the transfer case, driveshaft). she already has a 3 inch body lift that I put on when I was 16, I may or may not leave that on. I was thinking a 5.3 ls swap with engine and trans.
What are some things that i should be weary of when looking into this?
Common things that are over looked that i should pay attention to?
Any advice is welcome. This will be my first major project. My current project is on my daily, mostly bolt on. It is a 2007 GMC Sierra, Bagged (FBSSP), 5.3l with 243 heads, pace setter long tube headers, true dual exhuast with supper 44's dumped, K&N CAI, Diablo tune, 12inch W7 powered by JL Amp.
